Five Easter eggs at a glance
| Secret / mechanic | What to do | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Main quest | None in original BO1 | No multi-stage story finale |
| Won’t Back Down | Interact with 3 red phones | Eminem feat. P!nk song |
| DEFCON / Pack-a-Punch | Power plus 4 switches | Access to the Panic Room |
| Pentagon Thief | Defeat him before he steals any gun | Max Ammo and Bonfire Sale |
Does Five have a main Easter egg?
No. The Call of Duty Wiki, CoD Zombie and MrKennedy guides describe music and side mechanics, not an Ascension-style story quest. DEFCON is the Pack-a-Punch access system. No lunar-lander or boss-finale route belongs to Five.
Power and DEFCON: reach the third phone
- From the starting boardroom, use the elevators through the War Room to reach the bottom-floor laboratories. Turn on power in its switch room.
- Return to the War Room and activate all four DEFCON switches in any order: two on the lower floor and two on the upper walkway. DEFCON starts at 1 and reaches 5 after four presses. MrKennedy’s introduction says five switches but later says four; Wiki, hXcHector and CoD Zombie agree on four.
- At DEFCON 5, use a teleporter to reach the Panic Room / 115 Clearance room containing Pack-a-Punch and the third red phone. An upgrade normally costs 5,000. The machine is available for roughly 30 seconds before withdrawing; once the last player leaves, repeat the switches for access again.
Five Easter egg song: Won’t Back Down red phone locations
The artist is Eminem feat. P!nk, from Recovery; this is not an Elena Siegman / Kevin Sherwood Zombies original. Hold Interact on each of the three red phones until the interaction completes / busy tone is heard. The third phone requires power and Panic Room access.
GameRevolution and CoD Zombie describe ringing, flashing phones; the two wikis only describe interacting with them. Do not wait for a ring to search these three positions. GameRevolution also misspells the title as “Don’t Back Down”; the Wiki, Wikipedia and Destructoid agree on “Won’t Back Down.”
- Boardroom spawn: on the desk beside Quick Revive; MrKennedy specifies the desk to its left.
- Underground laboratory: on the desk in the power-switch room, in front of the switch.
- Panic Room / Pack-a-Punch room: on the desk near the window barrier.
Other secrets: the thief, Bonfire Sale and portraits
Bonfire Sale sends all teleporters to Pack-a-Punch and reduces an upgrade to 1,000 points. It is different from the Mystery Box Fire Sale. Killing the thief before theft also earns Hands Off the Merchandise.
The Panic Room displays a Richtofen portrait and a blank portrait, echoing Kino’s portrait set. Winter’s Howl comes from the Mystery Box and becomes Winter’s Fury when upgraded. Matryoshka Dolls belong to other maps, not Five’s equipment list.
| Pentagon Thief outcome | Reward |
|---|---|
| Killed before stealing anyone’s gun | Max Ammo and Bonfire Sale |
| Killed after stealing but before escaping | Stolen guns returned, Max Ammo and Fire Sale |
| Escapes | Stolen guns lost; Max Ammo remains |
Five Zombies characters and voice actors
These four historical figures are the playable Pentagon crew in BO1 Five. Finish the campaign or enter 3ARC UNLOCK at the main-menu terminal to unlock the map.
| Character | Voice actor |
|---|---|
| John F. Kennedy | Jim Meskimen |
| Robert McNamara | Robert Picardo |
| Richard Nixon | Dave Mallow |
| Fidel Castro | Marlon Correa |
Five Easter egg not working?
| Problem | Check |
|---|---|
| Cannot reach the last phone | Power and four DEFCON switches open the Panic Room. Visiting only the starting and laboratory phones is incomplete. |
| No ringing to follow | GameRevolution and CoD Zombie describe ringing, flashing phones; the two wikis only describe interacting with them. Use the fixed room landmarks and Interact rather than waiting for a sound cue. |
| Song already used | CoD Zombie says once per game; only one independent source was found for this limit. |
| Only Fire Sale drops | A gun was stolen before the thief died; Bonfire Sale requires preventing all theft. |
| Missing Mule Kick in an old guide | It was added by a later BO1 patch; early four-perk guides predate that addition. |
