Is Fly Trap the Der Riese main Easter egg?
There is no multi-stage story quest like Ascension. CoD Zombie calls it the map’s signature secret rather than a structured quest; the Wiki groups it under main quests, and MrKennedy labels it a main quest using the later “Paradoxical Prologue” name. Here, Fly Trap means the original BO1 hide-and-seek mini-game, which can be completed solo.
Fly Trap steps and teddy bear locations
BO1 Fly Trap has no gameplay reward and no Der Riese achievement. Do not expect Max Ammo, all perks or BO3’s Annihilator. The two bears and furnace monkey are Fly Trap targets, not song triggers.
Panel-trigger sources differ: the Wiki and Call of Duty Zombies also allow a grenade while holding an upgraded weapon, while MrKennedy specifies an upgraded bullet weapon. Direct upgraded gunfire is the route used here.
- Turn on power at the courtyard generator, then link all three teleporters A, B and C back to the spawn mainframe. Each link starts at the teleporter pad and must be confirmed at the mainframe within 30 seconds. After all three links, pay 5,000 at Pack-a-Punch to upgrade a gun.
- Find the distant panel outside the M1A1 Carbine / animal-testing corridor barrier. Our Der Riese map guide describes entering this corridor through the right-hand door when facing Pack-a-Punch; some sources call it the Left Corridor. Use the M1A1 and animal-lab landmarks to avoid reversing a route based only on “left” or “right.” Shoot the panel with an upgraded bullet-firing gun. Rising green objects and Samantha’s voice confirm activation.
- Shoot the teddy bear holding a Bowie Knife in a high broken window above the M1A1 Carbine, toward the Teleporter A side.
- Shoot the teddy with a Juggernog bottle and upgraded M1911 in the lower-left cage among the cages to the right of the M1897 Trench Gun in animal testing.
- Shoot the Monkey Bomb display in the furnace under the stairs near the Thompson in the garage / Teleporter B side. These three toy targets can be shot with a normal weapon after the panel is active. Listen for Samantha’s individual responses and the final completion line.
Der Riese Easter egg song: Beauty of Annihilation
Kevin Sherwood composed / performed the track, with Elena Siegman on lead vocals. Hold Interact on three green glowing jars containing brains and spinal cords, in any order. There are two jars in animal testing and one in the small side room by Teleporter B. They are not teddy bears.
- Animal Testing Lab: find the jar on the table / shelf at the foot of the stairs toward Juggernog, near the Trench Gun.
- Animal Testing Lab: look opposite the first jar, on the top tier of the large metal shelf. MrKennedy describes it as just right of the Juggernog stairs.
- Teleporter B side room: beside the Type 100 room, on the table near the blackboard with the Stielhandgranate drawing.
Other small secrets
Seven radios provide Group 935 recordings. The Wunderwaffe DG-2 is available in BO1 Der Riese’s Mystery Box and upgrades to DG-3 JZ. These are separate from Fly Trap’s ending.
The Wiki reports a knife-bearing teddy’s shadow beyond a spawn barrier, and a decorative Monkey Bomb remaining in the furnace after Fly Trap. Only one independent source was found for those decorative details; the furnace display is not a claimable weapon reward.
Der Riese Easter eggs not working?
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Panel does nothing | Upgrade the gun, aim at the distant panel beyond the M1A1 barrier and check whether Fly Trap already started. |
| A teddy seems absent | Activate the panel first; the bear in the high window and bear in a cage are different targets. The third target is a furnace monkey. |
| Three toys shot but no song | Use the three green jars; Fly Trap toys do not count toward Beauty of Annihilation. |
| Pack-a-Punch gate stays closed | All three separate mainframe links are required. Riding a teleporter is not the same as confirming its link. |
| Reward never appears | Original BO1 ends with Samantha’s response and gives no gameplay reward. |
Der Riese Easter egg FAQ
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can you do Fly Trap solo in BO1? | Yes. Open Pack-a-Punch, upgrade a gun, trigger the panel and shoot the three toy locations. |
| Where are the Der Riese teddy bears? | A high M1A1-side window and a cage right of Trench Gun. The third Fly Trap target is a monkey in the Thompson-side furnace. |
| What are the song objects? | Three green brain / spine jars: two in animal testing and one by Teleporter B. |
| What is the BO1 Fly Trap reward? | No gameplay reward. The WaW achievement and BO3 Annihilator belong to different versions. |
| Is Samantha’s Hide and Seek a separate BO1 quest? | The verified hide-and-seek secret here is Fly Trap; no separate official BO1 quest by that name was confirmed. |
BO1 versus World at War and BO3
World at War awards Elevate Your Senses for activating Fly Trap; BO1 does not. BO3’s The Giant (not Zombies Chronicles) changes the toy positions and speaker and rewards the Annihilator, so its toy checklist does not apply here.
